I Commend the NLEX Traffic Management Group

We were on our way home yesterday and traveling northbound along North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) when we almost met an accident caused by a reckless bus driver. It happened near the area of Bocaue exit…We were at the 3rd lane from the right-most lane and driving at a speed of 90km/h when a Golden Bee Transport bus with body number 917, traveling on the left-most lane and running at an approximate speed of 120-130km/h, dangerously swerved towards our lane and cutting us as it swerved. Luckily, my husband was able to maneuver our vehicle towards the right and thank God there was no other vehicle on our right when we were forced to go out of it’s way; otherwise, the bus would surely hit us at such dangerous speed and another accident caused by a reckless bus driver could have occurred.

We were so unnerved by the incident that we immediately called the NLEX hotline and reported the incident to the NLEX Traffic Management Group. We were already along the area of  Sta. Rita by the time we were able to report the incident and the person I talked to asked if we’re willing to go to the area where the bus driver will be apprehended, of course I told her that we’re more than willing to go anywhere just to give the reckless driver a lesson. We were about to make our exit at Pulilan when we saw a highway patrol car with blinkers on passed by, so instead of taking the Pulilan exit, we decided to follow the  patrol car. and the bus driver was apprehended just a few kilometers from Pulilan exit.

As expected, the bus driver was very apologetic, asking for forgiveness, begging us to let him go, pleading that he has a family to feed with three children. He further explained that he’ll be suspended from his work once his driver’s license was confiscated; if he was so concerned with his family, he should have been more careful with his driving. The patrol officers also told him that he should be careful considering that he was driving a passenger bus and the bus was loaded with passengers when the incident happened. Accidents  do happen in split-second. After much pleading, his license was still confiscated and a ticket was for traffic violation. We had to stand firm in teaching reckless drivers a lesson considering the number of  fatal accidents that occurred and these accidents were all caused by reckless bus drivers.

I wish to commend the NLEX Traffic Management Group for quickly responding to our report and I saw how dedicated they are with their duties and in providing assistance to the motorists. I then realized that the job of the highway patrols are so challenging because they have to ensure the safety of every motorist that travels along the NLEX; I assume that airport jobs are just as challenging since they also have to ensure the safety and security of the passengers and the aircraft.

Accidents can really happen no matter how careful one may be.

Kudos to you and your husband.

You just did what needs to be done...that is taking a preventive measure before any fatal accidents can happen.

Although it was a near-accident, I'm glad to hear of the swift action taken by the Nlex TMG. Kudos to them!
